Chocolate Bar Breakaway Bath Melts

Spring can be a hectic time of year! Spring cleaning, tax deadlines, plenty of garden work and for many of our customers - preparing for a busy crafting season. We think in light of these crazy times, you deserve a treat!

For our most recent recipe, we were inspired by our latest mold- which doubles as packaging. Ever since we first brought in our Milky Way Wax Tart molds, they have been booming in popularity and many people have been requesting the "breakaway" style wax molds as you may have seen used for products like Scentsy bars. We were able to get our hands on some to bring in and are super excited to now be carrying Wax Tart Clam Shells.

While the wax mold aspect of it is obvious, we thought we would put a bit of a spin on the mold and re-invent a recipe for Chocolate Bath Melts that we used in a class here years ago. We tweaked the recipe a bit and came up with this glorious formulation which is sure to make your baths oh-so-indulgent.

By using ultra-nourishing cocoa, shea and coconut butters, as well as our new cocoa brown clay and chocolate fudge fragrance oil, we have created a "Chocolate Bar", which you can break apart and toss into your bath for a relaxing, skin softening experience. Although you'll definitely be tempted to eat them first.

This recipe makes 135g which is enough to fill two of our Wax Melt Clam Shells. You'll need:

Added fragrance to your preference. We used 8g of Chocolate Fudge Fragrance Oil

To start, measure out your cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil out into a microwave-safe measuring container. Melt in small blasts of about 30 seconds in the microwave, stirring between each interval, until all the oils are completely liquified.

Next, add your cocoa brown clay for it's chocolate brown colour and the vitamin E to extend your products shelf life. Now, you can also add your fragrance if desired. Ensure that the liquid is stirred vigorously until you dissolve as much of the clay as possible.

Carefully pour your liquid oils into the mold. Fill it so that the dividers between each cube are covered. This will create one solid bar that you can break apart.

Next, I would recommend either leaving them to store in a cool area for about 24 hours. You can kick-start the process by sticking them in the fridge for an hour or so, but this may cause a bit of a frosted appearance on the surface.

Lastly, enjoy! You can easily keep these for yourself to enjoy the luxurious bath melt you've just made, or give them to others. Whether you're giving them as gifts or selling them, they are so easy to present. Because the mold doubles as it's packaging, all you need to do it stick a label on the front in order to make them look super professional.

We whipped this little presentation together in a few mintues!

Try it yourself! The process of making the bars themselves only took about 5 minutes and they will be sure to give you a spa-worthy treatment in your own home!

Happy crafting,

The Voyageur Team
